The Citroën Racing Trophy shines under the sun of Antibes!

The CITROËN RACING TROPHY round on the 44th Antibes Rally enjoyed resounding success. The 19 competing crews, who came to the rally from the different Trophy series run all over Europe, put on a spectacular and dramatic show. Thanks to their customary performance and reliability, the Citroën C2-R2 MAXs obtained excellent overall results. Thierry Neuville and Nicolas Gilsoul won Group R and finished fourth overall. They were classified in front of Benjamin Perrin/Quentin Perrin and Florentin Bosch/Romain Tempier.

Basso winner of the Rally

After the snow storm which occurred at night on the tops of the Mercantour, the weather forecasts became normal again for the second stage of the 44th edition of the Rally of Antibes-Côte d’Azur, the 11th event of the European Championship. But the temperature at the assistance park situated inside the M.I.N. at Nice only few meters far from the beach was not exactly the same that drivers found in higher altitude.

Sunday across mountains

The Côte d’Azur showed us its main assets for the second stage of the Rallye Antibes-Côte d’Azur, the 11th event of the European Championship. Deep blue sky, shiny sun, sea and fresh snow on the top of the Mercantour: a wonderful postal card offered to the competitors coming from all Europe and who was not expect to find such winter conditions.

The Citroën Racing Trophy sets pulses racing on the Antibes Rally

By gathering together 19 crews on the 44th Antibes Rally, Citroën Racing has achieved its objective. These drivers – who came from a variety of the CITROËN RACING TROPHY series organised all over Europe – formed a highlight of the opening leg in the south of France. Marc Amourette/Gwénola Marie are fifth in their Citroën C2 Super 1600. Bryan Bouffier and Mathieu Baumel are sixth with a Citroën C2-R2 MAX in front of Thierry Neuville/Nicolas Gilsoul and Massimo Cesa/Angelo Canova.

Le pilote officiel Abarth, l’Italien Giandomenico Basso associé à Mitia Dotta, a effectué une véritable razzia lors de cette première étape du rallye Antibes-Côte d’Azur en remportant toutes les épreuves chronométrées de la journée au volant de sa Fiat Punto Grande S2000. Le leader du championnat d’Europe possède désormais une avance confortable d’une minute et trente-huit secondes sur son compatriote Corrado Fontana (Peugeot 207 S2000).
